Danika Smith

Danika has worked for over a decade in Canadian University Sports. She holds a B.Sc. in Human Kinetics, a Master of Human Kinetics with a Concentration in Intervention and Consultation as well as a Graduate Certificate from the University of British Columbia in High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership.
Danika competed for five years at the University of Ottawa in the sport of ice hockey and represented Canada in ball hockey during three World Championships. Danika has gone on to Coach for Team Canada and Team Lebanon.
She was the Team Lead in 2019 at the World Cup of Football in Jinjiang, China with the University of Ottawa and a member of the Canadian mission staff in Kazan, Russia at the World University games in 2013.
Danika was a member of the expert working group that developed policy guidelines for sports organizations in Canada to create inclusive environments for trans participants.
Danika is honoured to be able to work with an organization that is striving to make sport safer for everyone; nobody should endure the maltreatment she experienced as a high school athlete
